Torrox, el mejor clima de Europa

Torrox is a small-medium size city in the province of Malaga, at the Axarquia area. It has a little bit more than 10.000 inhabitants divided into two main parts: the town itself, located in the mountains; and the coast, 4 kilometres away. Its motto is "the best climate of Europe". Believe it or not it's said its average annual temperature is about 18C because the town is sheltered by two mountain ranges, Sierra Tejada and Sierra Almijara.

Torrox es un pueblo de tamaño pequeño-mediano en la provincia de Málaga, en la comarca de la Axarquía. Tiene poco más de 10.000 habitantes divididos en dos partes principales: el pueblo en sí mismo, situado entre las montañas; y la costa, a 4 kilómetros de distancia. Su lema es "el mejor clima de Europa". Nos lo creamos o no se dice que tiene una media anual de 18C porque el pueblo está protegido por dos cadenas montañosas, Sierra Tejada y Sierra Almijara.

Most people comes here to enjoy the beaches and not to visit the town itself. We traveled to Frigiliana and then we decided to stop in Torrox in our way to Torre del Mar. Well, I could advice you to do the opposite. To do a comparison between both cities is really bad for Torrox because even though both are mountain villages this one looks spoiled if you have been in Frigiliana just a few minutes ago.
The main fact is that all the blocks house private apartments most of which are owned either by Spanish or Germans and it wasn't until June 2003 that the first tourist hotel was opened here.

Mucha gente viene aquí a disfrutar de las playas y no a visitar el pueblo en sí mismo. Nosotros viajamos a Frigiliana y después decidimos pararnos en Torrox de camino a Torre del Mar. Bien, te puedo aconsejar que hagas lo contrario. Hacer una comparación entre los dos pueblos es verdaderamente malo para Torrox, porque aunque los dos sean pueblos de montaña, ésta parece estropeada si has estado en Frigiliana tan sólo unos minutos antes.
l hecho principal aquí es que la mayoría de los edificios albergan apartamentos privados, propiedad tanto de españoles como alemanes, y sólo en 2003 inauguraron el primer hotel para turistas estacionales.

Location - Situación

Torrox is 44 kilometres from Malaga and its international airport (35 minutes) by the main road N340/E15, and it's just 10 kilometres from Nerja. You must leave the motorway at exit 285 and then you can follow the signs to the "costa" (coast), where most of the holiday accommodation tends to be, or to the "pueblo" (village) heading for the ancient hillside town after which the coastal resort is named.

Torrox está a 44 kilómetros de Málaga y su aeropuerto internacional (35 minutos) por la autovía N340/E15, y a sólo 10 kilómetros de Nerja. debes dejar la autovía en la salida 285 y entonces puedes elegir entre seguir los carteles de "costa" donde están la mayoría de los apartamentos de vacaciones, o "pueblo" dirigiéndote a la antigua población situada en la montaña por la que la zona costera adopta su nombre.

A great town with very friendly people. Recommend it to anybody who likes the "real Spain" even though it does have an nice Irish bar!!! Si hablas un poco de Espanol es un bueno pueblo!!
