Úbeda is a Renaissance city in the geographical centre of the province of Jaén. It has lots of lovely churches, palaces and towers which deserved to be considered a World Heritage by UNESCO in 2003, at the same time of nearby city of Baeza did.
Actually it is not a city crowded of tourist, but it's starting to be better known worldwide. I highly recommend you to walk by its streets and squares, slowly, looking at all directions, because there are more than 50 interesting monuments in town. I'm going to show you just a few of them. It's a pity I couldn't enter in lots of them, so... I have to return here! Úbeda es una ciudad renacentista en el centro de la provincia de Jaén. Tiene muchas iglesias, palacios y torres encantadoras que merecieron se declaradas Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 2003, al mismo tiempo que la vecina ciudad de Baeza.
Realmente no es una ciudad llena de turistas, pero está empezando a ser más conocida. Te recomiendo enormemente pasear por sus calles y plazas, despacio, mirando en todas direcciones, porque hay más de 50 monumentos interesantes en la ciudad, de los cuales tan sólo voy a mostrarte unos pocos. Es una pena que no pudiera entrar en muchos de ellos, así que... ¡tengo que volver aquí! |
|  | The Úbeda coats-of-arms has a crown in its centre, which represents the royal jurisdiction this city had in the past. The lions symbolize the twelve Ubedans knights' exploits at the Algeciras siege in 1344, in King Alphonso XI's days, where they defeated at twelve Moorish knights.

Úbeda is 56 kilometres far from the city of Jaén, the provincial capital, and it's just 11 kilometres far from Baeza, the other "UNESCO city", so you could visit both cities in once.
