Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, due to its role as a major destination for immigrants. It is located on Australia's south-east coast, built around Port Jackson, which includes Sydney Harbour,- Sydney is also called "Harbour City". It is famous for the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, its beaches and for the genuine "Aussie-feeling", Sydney mediates to its visitors. The metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and contains many bays and rivers. The city has hosted international sporting, political and cultural events, including the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2003 Rugby World Cup. In July 2008 Sydney will host World Youth Day 2008. |
