Bentota has about 10 000 inhabitants, most of them singhalese Buddhists. There are two rivers in the south and north (Bentota Ganga / Lunu Ganga), making Bentota to a kind of peninsula. The beach stretches for about 7 kms, hosting some very nice, serene hotels.

I've added Brief Gardens tomy list to see when I go.
Love to see the sri Lankan greenary through your pages and the Tip on the Liqour shop..I had a similar experience all over sri Lanka even for bottled water and Food at restaurants , but I always politely and smilingly made them reverse the charges!
