When my boyfriend Jim told me that he was going to take me away for my birthday, Rome was a distant thought.
After we had looked around for a European city break we decided to head to the capital of Gladiators, Legionaires.......and pasta!
We had a brilliant time exploring the sights, sampling the food and soaking up the culture.
Rome is stunning, a modern hive of activity built around centuries of history.
