My Perspective towards Beijing City

by vitraleus - last update: May 2, 2006

The Capital of China

The capital of China stands for the meaning of that everything you see here is supposed to be matched to national standard, while it's not in fact. Beijing is a city built in a very irregular pattern.

You get to see the most modern buildings and right next to it is the poor houses. You get to meet the most rich people driving in BMW racing car struggling on very tough road condition. You can choose to eat in the expensive restaurants and bars spending much as you want while you can also choose to eat in a small place spending a few pennies to make yourself full.

Some people don't like this city, 'cause it's a city that doesn't have a straightforward standard for everything. But I like it. Compared to other cities like shanghai, Beijing makes me more comfortable not because of I live here, but because of the people that I know and the surroundings.

People are friendly and open-minded in a natural way. Not like shanghai, people force themselves to pretend to be modern and open-minded.

Beijing is a city with history. It looks more beautiful in spring and summer seasons. Winter is just a very bad time to visit here. Do visit the Hutongs. They are the traces of the city's past. I was born in Hutongs. Without them, Beijing is nothing.

Do check out some bars at Sanlitun bar street or Houhai area. Check out the belly dancing there and you will know what young people are being influenced by.

I never know why people go to the Great Wall. To us, there is nothing to see. But the Great Wall used to protect this city and that's really amazing.

So I like Beijing more than I like Shanghai. :P
