A metropolis with ~2,000 years history

Hadrumetum
9 century BC - Phoenician (i.e. Punic) city of Hadrumetum (or Hadrumentum) was founded.
It was a base of Hannibal for the battle at Zuma in the second Punic war.
During the Third Punic War the city was on Roman site (hm, what a shame). Because of it, the city wasn't destroyed by Romans when Carthage fall.
Other names of Sousse:

Hunerikopolis (Vandal)
Justinianopolis (Byzantine)
Arabs call the city Susa or 'The Pearl of the Sahel'.
Sousse is the French name of the city.

Medina of Sousse is on UNESCO World heritage list.

These pages are really good! You have put a lot of work into them and the pics are great too. Your ratings should be higher! Cheers from Australia
