Getting TO/AROUND: The tube fares for single/return trips in all zones have recently (as of Jan 2006) skyrocketed to 6 pounds per trip. Don't become a victim of this daylight robbery-- buy a day pass if you're only here for a few days, and consider a one-week pass if you're here long enough. It really does help cut costs. A good alternative to the Tube (which is on strike more often than we care for) is the bus. Most bus stops these days have an electronic schedule to show you when the next bus will be coming to help you plan your activities better. The top deck of the bus also ensures a great view of the cityscape.
