is *not* January. Or the winter months, in general.
Across the North Sea from Copenhagen, Esbjerg is a charming little town of 115, 000 people in Jutland. It's not too surprising that it's not all action-packed, but it's great if you love that small town vibe, and particularly if you want to avoid the touristy regions and get a feel of the actual Danish culture.
The people are wonderful-- warm, helpful, and (to the tourist's relief) speak perfect English. You'd almost think you're back home... except the Danish pastries look too good/look nothing like those back home.

Esbejrg has a population of about 115.000 people. The white men are actually called "Man by the sea" and was raised in 1994. Esbjerg has a great nightlife..To experience real traditional danish food "smoerrebroed" (open sandwiches) "Hos Ingeborg" is a must. The restaurant is located in the walking zone towards the train station. Hos Ingeborg is one of the oldest (!00 years) restaurants left serving it the good old way!
