"Colorado Springs - nature at it's best" Colorado Springs by Yorick12

Colorado Springs, located at the foot of Pike's Peak, has a lot to offer the nature lover. The hiking opportunites are unlimited. From Pike's Peak to Garden of the Gods to Gold Camp Road, nature trails abound. And if in the area be sure to swing by Manitou Springs, located just 6 miles to the west. It's charming historic district, although very touristy, is well worth a stop. Although while you're there I wouldn't recommend stating that you're from Denver, or saying anything positive about Denver for that matter. There seems to be a rift between the cities. Colorado Springs is very right wing. It's home to the "family first" organization and multiple military bases. Denver is quite the opposite. Although the Springs is quite pretty and worth a stop, I wouldn't recommend staying too long or you too might turn into a right wing Bush supporter (God forbid!)
