Veghel is my home town. Born in Brussels (Belgium), I was raised in Veghel, where I have been living from when I was 5-years-old; with two interruptions when I was a student. Veghel is a small city (37,000 inhabitants) in the South of The Netherlands. The place is not very interesting for tourists, as the castle and many other old buildings did not survive the ages. Therefore Veghel is a city that looks modern, with some good facilities (many schools, hospital, theater etc). It is a nice place to live. And unlike many other places in The Netherlands, it's safely situated above sea level at a height of about 8 m! The picture shows the Deken van Miertstraat right in the middle of the village. This street is the main exception to the introduction text above about old buildings. |
| | Markt (Market Square) The Markt is also right in the middle of Veghel. There are a few restaurants and bars as well as a very good 'gelateria' (ice). |
| River Aa just north of Veghel |
| | Landscape around Veghel Veghel is situated in the beautiful area of Eastern Brabant, between the cities of Eindhoven and 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch). The picture was taken about 2 km north of Veghel's city center, along the river Aa. |
