Travellers often miss out on Qatar because you must want to see it to visit it and Qatar is out of the way. Qatar is not as traditional as its neighbours like Oman etc but it does have some rock carvings to show that humans have lived here for thousands of years. Qataris are proud of their country and with its oil and gas it is one of the richest countries on earth per capita and it is exploding as of late. It is not a 19th century Arabian country so dont be disappointed if you dont find dhows and countless forts. I ve been to Qatar a few times and the thing that you will notice and what I noticed was not the number of dhows but Beamers, Hummers and gorgeous beaches. It is a stereotypical wealthy Persian Gulf country. |
