Magical Prague

by JohnniOmani - last update: Jan 18, 2007

Prague

The Most Beautiful city in Europe
Magic, golden and mystical Prague is a city unlike any other in Europe. Often called the City of a Hundred Spires because of its many churches and towers, Prague is the chief commercial, industrial, and cultural center of the Czech Republic. Unlike much of central Europe, the city was not seriously damaged in World War II (1939-1945) and remains one of the most beautiful cities on the continent. There is a maze of medieval lanes to explore, riverside parks for picnics, lively bars and beer gardens, jazz clubs, rock venues and countless art galleries. I stayed with a local Czech named Martin (ex pro hockey player) and he was best friends with some of the NHL stars. Martin gave me a tour I will never forget and Prague is a city that lingers in your mind long after your trip is over. Brilliant City.
St. Charles' Bridge

Prague's Bridges

St. Charles' Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in the world. Nothing even comes close to it. The elegant bridge is graced with dozens of statues dating from a few hundreds ago and line with jewellry stalls, portrait artists and the odd jazz band. It is the main places for tourists to take photos and hang out and it can become crowded during the summer. Despite being swamped with tourists, the bridge manages to keep its magic and sunset while on the bridge is stunning.
Prague Castle

Prague Castle and Hradcany

This is the number one tourist attraction in the city and for good reason. You need to purchase a ticket for the cathedral etc but you can wander freely around the castle courtyards and gardens and watch the changing of the guard for free. Castle highlights include the jewel studded St Wenceslas Chapel, the view from the cathedral tower and the Vladislav hall in the Old Royal Palace and Basilica of St George, Pragues finest Romanesque church. The area can keep you busy for a full day. Great fun.
