Sultan Palace Hotel: Budget Choice

The Sultan Palace Hotel is a great option if you are strapped for cash like my other budget option mentioned. I checked it out before settling in on the Taj Talha but I would recommend this place for a backpacker for a few nights. The only problem is that it is located next to a mosque so bring your ear plugs but that is a rule for Yemen anyway due to the number of Muezzins aka screachers that love the early mornings :)

Unique Qualities: Breakfast is included and it is in the old city.

Old Sana'a Palace Hotel: Good Budget Option

This place is a great find for someone on a tight budget on an extended trip in the ME or Yemen. It is located in the center of the action and some of the rooms have private bathrooms that are pretty clean. The price includes meals making it a gem if you are low on cash. Great find and I recommend it.

Taj Talha: Great option

The Taj Talha is def one of the best mid range hotels in Sana'a with regards to atmosphere. It oozes charm and the spiral staircase to the rooms will at least give you exercise every morning and night. The best thing about the hotel is its manager, he is very relaxed and his English is excellent so he can assist you. Listening to the call to prayer from the rooftop is out of this world.

Unique Qualities: Manager, rooftop restaurant and views!
