It seem that absolutely everyone you speak to about Tbilisi mentions Nasis homestay and how great it really is . . . blah blah blah. Everyone gives her mixed reviews and I will do my best to give an honest and fair description of this place. First of all, Nasi is not a bad woman as some may say but a very old and cautious lady. I stayed with her for 5 nights and the place has some major good and bad points. Negatives first :
1. Nasi charges guests 20 Lari a night (as of October 6th 2006) which is a bit much but that is beside the point. 2. The street noise in the morning will wake you up unless you are in a coma. 3. She charges guests 2 Lari for a hot shower and 1 lari for a cold shower = no comment on my end. 4. The bathroom is super tiny and not built for tall people like myself.
5. No breakfast included. 6. Washing is 10 lari which is a bit much. Overall, either she is a woman of her time or getting greedy.
Positives:
1. Security is great. 2. Location is fabulous. 3. Cafes and restaurants nearby. 4. She gives basic information about hostels in Kazbegi etc. 5. She is friendly despite what people may say. 6. Lets you keep your bags if you go and spend the night in another city. 7. Big rooms.
Overall,
I would recommend her place for a night or two but I am sure you can find better deals around the city if you look.
