Bumping Mumbai

Amazing Gothic train station in Mumbai
Most people think that Mumbai is a massive city that doesn't deserve to be explored and that couldn't be further from the truth. Most travellers that use this city as only a transit point miss out on a city with a lot to offer. It doesn't have the same buzz as other cities such as Delhi or Varanasi but this city has an abundance of energy and fun things to do and see. There is no denying that this city is Indias finace center and this is most evident in the Fort area among others. This city oozes a vibrant atmosphere and it produces massive quantities of Hindi films, petrochemicals as well as textiles. The Elite of Mumbai watch cricket matches, go to the cinema to see the latest Bollywood films and picnic in the maidans. It is easy to get caught up in admiring the colonial architecture and double decker buses but this city is also home to Asias largest slums as well as a huge crime underground. Despite these harsh realities, Mumbai will draw you in more than any other city in the country.
The Gateway of India

Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is an exaggerated colonial marker made after the visit of King Georgia in the early 1900s. The Gate faces the harbor in the Colaba area. The British ceremoniously departed India through its archway and today it is has become a symbol of the city and a popular meeting place for locals and travellers. You will be approached by balloon sellers (dont know where they think I can put those huge balloons), photographers, snake charmers and every other type of tout you can think of that exists in India. The whole experience is friendly and the attraction is the buzz of the crowds and not the gateway itself. Fun.
