Saint-Malo Hotel Tips by KingOfTalossa

My wife and I stayed at the Jean-Bart (**) in St Malo in May of 2004. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. When we changed our plans (without informing them -- our bad) and arrived later than scheduled, they did not turn us away, although they had sold our room; they made space for us in the 'secret' attic room for our first night there. An adventure in itself.

The hotel is located in a great setting, just inside the wall of the old town (i.e. "Intra-Muros"), a stone's throw from the Grande Porte, and a very short walk from the town's great restaurants. The rooms are clean and functional. Private shower and toilet. The elevator is a bit of a squeeze. Highly recommended.

Unique Qualities: Nice view of the harbour and the city walls. Nice view of the old city if you can arrange a stay in the secret room in the attic...
