Situated in the west border of Tamil Nadu state is Ooty (the popular name of Udhangamandalam). Nestled in the Nilgiri hills is this 'Queen of hill stations'. The altitude of Ooty makes it a cool place, the tall lush green Eucalyptus trees make you feel healthy, the tea plantations make you feel enthusiatic and smell good, altogether the environment makes you feel romantic. Here are some more attractions in Ooty which make it even more lovable.
Botanical Garden:
Laid by the Marquis of Tweedale in 1847. This garden houses a variety of graciously beautiful plants. This garden also hosts a Flower Show held in May every year. Take a stroll in this and you will want the whole world to be of flowers and nothing else.

An artificial lake constructed in 1824, it has also a lake garden and toy train ride. You can also do some boating in it.

Goverment Museum:
There is a goverment museum on Mysore Road set up in 1989. This museum has exhibits of tribal objects, some ecological district's ecological details and representative sculptural arts and crafts of Tamil Nadu.

The Mukurthi National Park and Mkurthi Peak:
At South eastern corner of the Nilgiris plateau, the Mukurthi National Park is located and the Peak is about 40 km form Ooty. Kollaitbetta and Nilgiris Peak are other major peaks around. There are lot of little streams here, which fall into Bhavan Puzha. On the western side of these ranges, is the silent Valley in the Western Ghat. The Mukurthi Sanctuary's interesting feature is that it's flora fauna seem to orginating from that of the Himalyan's and related to them.

Ketty Valley view
A tranquil spot, a cluster of villages that extend to the plains of Coimbatore and Mysore plateau, located on the road to Conoor.

Situated about 21 km from the Ooty-Mysore road, Pykara is a good wildlife habitat. It is well protected by fenced sholas, todas and meadows. The Pykara Dam and reservoir are a tourist attraction.

Glenmorgan is a rich forestry spot and is located at about 17 km from Ooty. Permission from the electricity board should be obtained, enter the viewpoint. On the way to Glenmorgan one can see some of the Eucalyptus, wattle plantations.

Upper Bhavani
Situated at about 10 km from Korakundah and about 20 km from Avalanchi, is Upper Bhavani a Naturalist’s Paradise. The area has a rich untouched wildlife habitat.

Avalanchi is a beautiful lake nestled by a very good forest located at a distance of 28 km form Ooty. It is a nature lover’s paradise. Avalanchi’s wild life habitat is ideal and it also has stretches of undisturbed shoals.

Western Catchment
Western Catchment located at about 20 km from parson valley. It has rolling grassy slopes occupying depression and valleys. The landscapes here are very picturesque. There are also other watchable spots in the sanctuary which include Moyar waterfalls, the Chief Minister’s watch tower, Ombetta swamp, Theppakad elephant camp.

Doddabetta is the highest peak of the Nilgiris and is at a distance of 10 km from Ooty. It lies at the meeting point of Eastern and Western Ghats. Dense forests surround it. And the TTDC’s telescope house is an added attraction.

Kalhatty Falls:
Kalhatty Falls are located at about 13 km from Ooty on the Kalhatty slopes. The height of this falls is about 100 ft. The Kalhatty-Masinagaudi slopes are rich in wildlife.

Snowden Peak:
The Snowden Peak situated on the Kothagiri Road, gives a picturesque view of Ooty.

All these are only a few of the attractions that Ooty offers. You can enjoy your stay at nice good cottages in Ooty.
There are unlimited landscapes and mountain slopes to see.
