Nightlife Spot: Testaccio District
OK. So when I was in Roma last year I asked some younger Italians where the best discos are at and ALL of them said MONTE TESTACCIO.
I had no idea where it was so I got in a Taxi at about 10:30PM and told him to bring me there. He dropped me off at a corner in a road next to a Piazza. I walked towards the area and it was pretty dark and seedy looking. But I seen a couple boring looking clubs in this area so I slipped in one and had a couple drinks.
I got bored around 11 or 12 and left that place. When I got outside there were loads of Italians walking further down the street where it had been previously dark as can be and a dozen or so stands had been opened selling clubbing paraphenelia.
Instinctlively I followed the crowd and found some warehouses were thumping with sound and bass (electronic, rock, reggae). So I ended up going in one of them, which was playing some really cool reggae/electronic. Cover was 15 Eur and drinks were decent prices.
Later in my trip I went to other various clubs but most were for international students or tourists and played boring Top 40 music. I would say, then, that Monte Testaccio would be the place to go for a great Italian night out away from the tourist scene.
( I also read later on that there are a lot of outdoor concerts held around Monte Testaccio in the summertime )

Take a LEFT onto VIA GALVANI
The clubs will be on your left on VIA MONTE TESTACCIO
A good way to find them though is go around 11:30PM and FOLLOW THE CROWDS
