Actually, strictly speaking, Portland isn't my hometown. I grew up in the country about a 45 minute drive away from Portland. But it's sort of my adopted hometown now that I live abroad, since no one is going to know the small town that I really come from. And it's the place I miss most. I know not many people visit Portland unless they're passing through or they know someone there, but they should, it's a brilliant city. It's green, easily walkable, on the river, full of shops and culture and weird things awaiting you around every corner. It doesn't have major tourist attractions, no Eiffel Tower or Big Ben or Statue of Liberty, but it has a friendly, laid-back feeling that instantly makes you feel at home. |

penpoison Thu Oct 13, 2005 17:15 UTC I sort of miss the Maple Bacon donuts from Voodoo's. They tend to close earlier on Saturdays (3 am). |
