| J. S. Bach at St. Thomas Church |
Leipzig is a truly fascinating city, with a rich musical legacy and a wealth of architectural styles. Leipzig was home to such famous musicians as Johann Sebastian Bach , Felix Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Robert Schumann and his wife Clara Wieck Schumann. Also, both Georg Philipp Telemann and Richard Wagner attended the University of Leipzig. One can hear fine music at the Gewandhaus, the Opera, St. Thomas Chuch and the famous Thomanerchor, and recitals on the splendid pipe organ in St. Nicholas Church. |
