To me Big Island is No Ka Oi

Waipio Valley

Big Island No Ka Oi

Maui claims to be No Ka Oi (the best) but to me Big Island is the best.
I love all the Islands, but if I was to live on one it would be the Big Island. There are few places in the world you can witness the earth being created, The Island has Black, Black and White, White and even Green sand beaches, and it was the birth place and in my opion the final resting place of King Kamehameha the great. The original statue resides on the Big Island in Hawi the one in Oahu is the replica. The greatest coffee in the world is produced there, Mauna Loa Macademia nuts are harvest and dipped in chocolate there, the Waipio Valley lookout will strike a spiritual chord in all who ponder it's beauty. Pu'uhonua o Honaunau the place of refuge is a must see. Capt. Cook's monument as well as the painted church is also near by. Kahalu'u Beach Park is a great place to snorkel everytime I've been there i have seen Honu (sea turtles). Hilo is a beautiful contrast to the Kona side Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls is amazing. Hilo hosts the " Hawaiian Superbowl" Merrie Monarch Festival which people from around the world gather to compete in Hula in all it's forms.
