My Farmhouse on Blenheim Hill in the Catskills. I love to travel, perhaps I am part gypsy, a bloodline from my past and I don't know it. Love to have the earth moving underneath me. As long as I am moving I feel content and at peace.
Married and live with my hubby on an old farm in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York in an old Victorian farmhouse. We raised four children here and now enjoy our two grandsons, Anderson and Simon.
Hubby loves to fish and hunt, I love to travel, garden and photograph.
I am an antique dealer and a renovation designer for second home owners who live in New York City. I love anything that is visually beautiful or interesting. Sometimes I see things very differently than those around me. I remember details about places and people that return to me time and time again in my mind and memories.
I find traveling an almost spiritual experience. To witness the amazing diversity of places and people all around the world, is like seeing the heavenlies themselves.
I love Jesus and can't imagine life without Him. The more I travel the more I see Him in all things and in all people.
Traveling to me is like the very breath of air that keeps me alive. It connects me to all that is real and all that is worth living for. |
| | View from my Front Porch....Catskills!!! The Catskill Mountains are an overlooked area of the United States. They are so close to New York City (3 1/2 hrs) that most cannot relate to them as being worth visiting. But it was an area of rest and respite during the early 1900's, nick named "The Queen Of the Catskills". There were 14 hotels in my local village alone, and people came by train from New York City and Long Island. Today it is an area of probably 45% second homes but fewer visitors. |
| | Road in Front of my House....Gorgeous. Autumn in the Catskills is spectacular due to the many hardwood trees, especially the Sugar Maples. These trees are tapped in the spring for maple syrup.
People who come to visit me can't believe how beautiful our view of the Catskill Mountains are from our farm. This photo was taken from the road directly in front of my house.
Perhaps I should do a house swap. I think sometimes it is necessary to go away to really appreciate where we come from |
| Christmas Wreaths, Our Barn. |
| | Our Barn at Christmas Time!! Christmas time is magical at the farm. Usually Christmas Eve is a tranditional Swedish Christmas, family from all over the country come for the Jule Caka, Bruner Burner, Fresh Pork Roast, Picked Herrings, and Limpa Bread. |
| | My vegetable garden which is now only a "kitchen" garden, is surrounded by perrenials. This is a late summer bloom of lillys and flox. |
| | This is our apple orchard, it is an old one, and these are Baldwin Trees an old variety of apple.
Sprintime is always a treat to see the blossoms, we have one crabapple tree that is enormous and beutiful in bloom. Photo on my other album. |
