Rio de Janeiro Hotel Tips by MulattaCarioca

I stay here on my first trip to Rio. Having travelled internationally, I knew not to expect double beds (there were singles, as in most foreign countries) and standard service. Location was the most important factor here. It's steps away from Copacabana beach, yet still far enough away that noise isnt a factor. Up on the roof is the magnificent Christ statue looking down at you as you sun yourself and cool out in the water. The surrounding mountains were the attention getters and little else.

The hotel's wonderful staff, especially Sebastiao were courteous when they heard even a slight bit of Portugues spoken and extremely helpful. Since returning to Rio and making it a second home, I've secured an apartment, but will continue to send first timers to this hotel for a pleasant experience. After all, you're in Rio for Rio, not for the hotel. This one will provide a backdrop for your trip so that you'll not remember anything horrible about your hotel adventure, rather, all the wonderful things that make up Brasil.

It's inexpensive. It's close enough to the water. You'll feel like a local walking along the cobblestone streets and you'll see how Cariocas really live.

After a mishap with what seemed like an acetone cleaning session at another hotel, we were moved to this 5 star. It took the luxe factor up a bit from the Atlantis Copacabana hotel, with bigger beds (2 smaller beds pushed together actually equal a KING sized bed here) and in-room TVs that work without fail. The views were spectacular, the staff quiet and anticipating your every need, seemingly appearing when they crossed your mind. They were very accomodating and even room service appears quickly. This is a can't-go-wrong hotel.

Unique Qualities: The rooftop pool is astoundingly modern & sleek.
There are bathtubs (a hot & often unavailable commodity in Brasil) in this hotel.

Rooms are larger than normal, even on standard rooms.
