If you tour the county of Devon and Cornwall you are faced with bays similar to this one at every corner. We went on a 3 day, 2 night drive through cornwall and managed to see pretty much every highlight of the county.
Living Brighton we drove through Southampton and the New Forest, an amazing drive in itself, we stopped at Lyndhurst, Lymington, New Milton at a little castle in the middle of nowhere and stayed the night at Bournemouth in a very cheap B&B (£15) above a pub. It was clean and we were tired. Perfect combination.
After breakfast in a little hotel in a small village we continued all the way on the A390 to Liskeard and then down to West and East Looe, Portlooe, stopped for lunch at Polperro and continued on the A387 to Fowey. We crossed the river £1.10 to cross the little stretch of water, very lovely and quaint crossing.
Onto St. Austell on the A3082, just toured the city and out again direction of Truro, Falmouth, Helston and Penzance in time for a short drive to Land's end before dinner. As the athmosphere was so lovely we decided to have dinner at the hotel there. Great views and the food was pricey but also very good. Who said we do not have great sunsets in England (see below).
Food was good but the views were amazing.
From Penzance in the morning we drove to St. Ives. A lovely fishing village, stop here for an hour or so and walk around the harbour and old town.
We continued our drive up to St. Agnes, Newquay (a larger city and too busy so we decided to continue and find a lovely bay in which to stop. Now at everycorner we saw one but somehow were not hungry enough and we wanted to see more and more bays at each corner. It's an amazing drive I can assure you. So we stopped in Padstow and had lunch in a very expensive restaurant/bistro but the food was crap. The sardines were half cooked, now you know what that means to you but being a Portuguese used to the best sardines around you can imagine how I felt. They could not apologise enough but first impressions were ruined.
This house was for sale and was located in a roundabout, yes in the middle of a town. Cool!
We continued our drive from Padstow to Bodmin and down to St. Austell, drove through in the direction of Mevagissey. Driving down you could feel you were in the direction of somewhere special but nothing prepared me for such a beautiful ser of villages.
We drove through down to Gorran heavan and this area is absolutely fabulous. It deserved a lot more time and I shall explore it better next time. We booked in at the Sea hotel, a bit more pricey but with great views. We walked down to the village and booked a table at a Portuguese Restaurant (see restaurant tip).
The next day we visited the Gardens of St. Helligan and the Eden project. see what to do tips.
- In a nutshell:a delightful county

Definitely a beautiful part of England! Your Fowey pics are really nice. I almost went to the Eden Project once, but it was February and a blizzard hit!
