I live here in the Tularosa Basin due to my job, we have an elevation of 4250 ft. and 360 days of sunny weather. I moved from a humid enviroment, and I am happy with my choice. I do not like that you have to travel at least one hour in any direction to reach a body of water. We have the Sacramento Mountains with an elevation of 9000 ft. This is also the location of Sunspot N.M. where large observatories are used by the major universities in the U.S. Other activities are ice skateing or snow skiikig in the winter. In the summer we go caming in the mountains to escape the heat, it is about 20 degrees cooler. To the south we have White Sands National Moument, this is kind of nice, the sand looks like snow. I buy a yearly pass for 20 dollars. You can come in the park as much as you want. We bring some plastic disks for sand sleding, or walk on the boardwalk and watch the sunset. To the north there is horse racing, golf, casinos, camping, snow skiing in Ruidso, N.M. Be sure to bring water anywhere you go, I keep a gallon in the vehicle. Enjoy! |
