Kizkalesi

This is Kizkalesi, also know as "Castle by the sea", or the "Maidens Castle". The story I was told, Mark Antony gave the Cilician shores, the land between Alanya and the Syrian Border to Cleopatra, as a wedding present. The wooded forest above Alanya was cut and used by Cleopatra to build her mighty naval fleet. At one time there was a 200m seawall that connected the "Maiden's Castle" to The Castle of Korykos located on the beach.

Who is this guy?

This guy was a real character, he said his name was Shakil O'Neal. Apparently his real first name is Shakil, he works for the Rain Hotel, which is located on the beach. He rents the paddel boats, sunchairs, sells mixed drinks from the hotel/restaurant. The boats can be taken to the castle for a closer look. Fees for rental are relatively cheap. $2-3 US.

The Castle of Korykos

This is my brother-in-law Mustafa, I like this picture, its kind of funny to me. He reminds me of the dancing bears from the Grateful Dead Band, of which I'm not a fan. Anyway, the point of interest is in the background, the Castle on the beach. The sea wall connected to the island castle.
