Rotterdam to Rome

ok, let me start my trip report of Rome. Today's the last day of my trip....god! I cant believe 15 days have shot by so soon! But I must say this has been one of the best trips of my life!!
Getting there:
We had a transavia flight to catch from Rotterdam....even as we struggled on understanding how to get to Rotterdam a couple of 'virtualtourists' guidede us on the train we could catch. So we took a cab to Amsterdam Centraal at 3 in the nite, took a train to rotterdam! Two sleepy heads roamed the rotterdam station before we were guided by a kind man to the bus stop where a kind hearted bus driver let us board even as he was enroute to the terminal slept all the way to the airport, it took us nearly half an hour to get there! As the sun rose in the back ground we entered the neat little rotterdam airport, had an awesome breakfast and went thru some thorough security check.... we boarded the flight and thats all i remember! I slept all the way to Rome- a two hour flight as my poor bored husband looked on. The worst part was that i had the window seat, so he didn't even have anything to see!!!

From the airport to our hotel

We collected our luggage (a small rucksack which had to be checked in as I was carrying some liquid medicine)and went out into Rome, excited after all that we had read up on fodors.
We had to take the leonardo express at 11 E pp to the termini!! we tried asking for the FR 1, but nobody guided us on how to take it or where to board etc. I think even the tourist information offices in Rome are out to take us for a ride. Everytime we asked for guidance they gave us the most exensive option!!

The hotel tokyo on Via Marsala(right next to the termini), looked very different frm what we were shown on the internet! by now we were getting used to the italian way of things!! the place was more like a hostel really!
We quickly changed and thanks to fodorites we had picked the roma pass for 20 E pp, the validity of the pass was for 3 days, yet we picked it tho we were in Rome only for 2. Totally worth it!
Our first stop: Colosseum.
We took the metro line B to get off just outside the colosseum

Very helpful tips Abi, if I ever visit Rome, I will have to come back to this page! Really like the Castel Sant' Angelo, can see why you spent so much time! Sounds like it was quite hot there too, not the best for lots of walking!

You have seen some nice places in Rome which i think we missed.The Indian meal was what we craved for in Rome!
