"ISLAND OF CAPRI" Capri by ruki

Capri Travel Guide: 304 reviews and 936 photos

Small in size (the perimeter is no more than 17 km), the island is almost entirely composed of limestone rock which has been modeled over centuries into mountain peaks. The sea, the incomparable views the picturesque small villages, the remains of the ancient Roman villas, the certosa and the churches, castles, palazzos, the numerous private villas, the towers and the caves have attracted to the island not only two emperors, bur also artist, musicians and writers who on Capri have found inspiration and have paid their homeage.

You can choose to join the crowd and live unforgettable days sitting at the many bars in the “piazzetta” , shopping at the elegant boutiques in Camerelle Street or eating at the local restaurants in Capri, where the person sitting at the table next to yours may be a wealthy and famous one.
But you can also choose the the peace and quiet of the streets in Anacapri or the solitary paths to the sea with breathtaking landscapes.
Welcome to Capri: 11 sq km of natural and artificial beauties. The Emperor Augustus was the first one to discover this magnificent place, it was the year 29 B.C. After him Tiberius and many others: Lenin, Mussolini, the Swedish doctor Axel Munthe and the factory owners Knupp. Each one of them left something to the island which has never stopped enchanting people.

Not to miss anything here is an itinerary by sea.
Here life has slower rythms that why it is becoming the ideal place for people loving peace and relax. It is here that Axel Munthe decided to stop at the end of the 18th century.

There are two towns on Capri; Capri town itself, which is in the centre of the island, and is where most of the hotels are located, and Anacapri.

The principal Capri tourist attraction is the island itself; its views, its rocky seashores and its scenic charm. There is plenty of good walking - or strolling - to be done as you explore the island. Top scenic panoramas include views of the Bay of Naples, the Faraglioni Rocks and the Gardens of Augustus.
