  • Grand Canal is the main and the most beautiful “water street” in the Venice. It is long about 4 km. Just take Vaporetto or waterbus and drive from the Piazza Roma to the Piazza San Marco. You will see many great old places and each stop offer many amazing and magnificent palaces and churches. The vaporetto No. 1 from the Piazza Roma to Piazza Marco is the slowest one and you will have a good look to see the entire canal in one ride.

  • Unfortunately it was under construction but the churches is one the most beautiful and
the most photographed churches in Venice. The Santa Maria della Salute is located along Grand Canal in Doesoduro I think that the best view of the Basilica is from St Mark's Campanil. Every year on 21 November, the Venetians come to visit the church with lighting candles and it is magic scene in the evening. The Feast of the Presentation of the Virgin, the city's officials processed from San Marco to the Santa Maria for a service of thanksgiving for deliverance from the plague 1630.This involved crossing the Grand Canal on a specially constructed pontoon bridge. The Festa della Madonna della Salute is still a major event in Venice.

    - Torre dell Orologio (Clock Tower)
    - Campanile (Bell Tower)
    - The Columns (Saint Mark and Theodore)
    - Venice Doge Palace

Where ever you go, you will finally finish on the square San Marco.

  • The British have Big Ben and Italian their Clock tower on the St Marco square. The clock is from 15th century. On the large dial (15ft diameter), the relative positions of five planets: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury could be read on concentric circles, together with lunar phases. The clock have the great bell (5ft high) on the top of the tower, together with the two sweet bronze giants that strike it with hammers.

  • The Doges Palace was the heart of the government of the Republic of Venice. It is right next to Basilica di San Marco
Palazzo Ducale is a magnificent building, packed full of treasures and ornaments.. It was the home of the Doges, Venice's rulers. The Doge was elected from among the aristocratic families and ruled for life.
Inside of the palace there are many peaces of the masters of Venetian art, including Veronese, Titian and Tintoretto.

  • This spectacularly church in Byzantine style located of course on Piazza San Marco. I don't know what is more impressive (interior or outside). At the top center of church there is the golden winged lion which is the symbol of Venice. There are five entrance doors with great decorated arches above. The central entrance is the largest one. All decorations and facade are of mosaics, arches and portals and there are so beautiful.

  • The Campanile is 98,60 meters high and it is the most highest campanile in Venice. There is elevator which will lead you at the top for 6 EUROS. The view from the top is amazing. It is the best to go earlier in the morning to escape the crowd.

  • This bridge is connecting Doges' Palace and Prigioni Nuove (the New Prisons) and it was built in the first decade of the 17The. The name "Bridge of Sighs" inspirited by Lord Byron but it was so named for the “sighs of pain” from prisoners who was crossing from the palace to the prison. When they were crossing they were looking the sea and the freedom for the last time.

  • Rialto bridge is the most known bridge in Venice. It was the first bridge who connected two sides of the town. It is from 13 th century and on the bridge there are many souvenirs shops with three main stairs. I think that from the top of the bridge is the best view of Grand Canal.
