Merely staying in a five star hotel and being served hand and foot has nothing to do with travelling. It just means you are conveying your current living conditions (or dream circumstances of life) to a foreign country. If that is all you wish to get out of a trip, why not use the money to install a jacuzzi in your back yard and hire and actor to serve you drinks?

Travel observations

I've noticed one will be open to things on the road that they would not even imagine back in their regular lives. One will be more lenient with their personal beliefs, religious rules, moral standings or what-have-you-not. I have seen the most conservative people suddenly have 3 one night stands in a week, people who have never even had cough syrup suddenly having a six-pack while watching the sunset on some tropical island, eating food forbidden by religion.

Not everyone will fall prey to the feeling of freedom of the open road. Hower a lot of us do take to the road, to explore these freedoms. To free ourselves of the bondage that our society, culture, religion, family has put on us. For some of us the chains and the prison is our own mind.
