This is the site of 10,000 Torii Gates. They are stacked really close to form a corridor at the beginning, but then spaced out further as your continue along. This complex goes up a hillside and has a beautiful view. There's even some little shops near the top of the hill where you can get water (needed after that steep hike).
There are gardens besides the Silver Pavilion, and among them are the rows of sand, stacked about three feet high. The day I was there two men were arranging and smoothing out the sand.
