Thanks to a recommendation from another VTer, I rented an apartment for the week I was in Paris. The cost was about what I would pay for a hotel room, but a hotel room would have been way smaller. I stayed in a nice residential area not far from the Pompido Center. Had a small kitchen, so we saved money by eating in.
I'd highly recommend A Parisian Home www.aparisianhome.com if anyone is looking for a rental. They have a variety of size, price, and location options that should fit anyone's budget.

Yes, it feels good when people stop and ask you for directions. I was even able to help them a couple of times. (But not always, LOL. Sometimes they were looking for places I had never heard of.)
