The city is undergoing a major facelift. Reconstruction of the city will continue on for the next few years. The city is getting ready for the Olympics that will be held in the year 2008. Sad but inevitable, a lot of the older parts of Beijing, the part of China we envision in our heads are being demolished to make room for new buildings, freeways, etc. A change that is inevitable but neccessary, as Beijing becomes a more powerful and modern type city. Overall, a nice place to visit. Keep in mind though of renovations going on, so a lot of the well known areas such as Forbidden City, and Temple of Heaven...are covered in scaffolding and closed to the public until further notice.
