The Hague as considered as chic compared to hard-working, alternative Rotterdam and the liberal never ending party of Amsterdam. This may come from Scheveningen or from the royal family, escpecially Queen Beatrix who also lives here. But the Hague is also the political center of the country which means that the liberal politics of the Netherlands were made here. If you want to spend a good time exploring the history of the Netherlands and its plitics, Den Haag is the first destination to visit. And If you do not like politics and history, enjoy a day at the beach, visit the miniature park of Madurodam or explore asian kitchen in Den Haag's own chinatown. Discover and see that Den Haag is not only chic royalty and politics.

's Gravenhage (the official name) or Den Haag (as most dutch people call it) dates back to the early 13th century when it became its nearby woods became famous among hunters. Floris V. decided to built a castle in 1250 at the place, where the Binnenhof is found today. Since this time, the Binnehof has been the main place for politics in this area and it still has this position today. People say that Rotterdam earns the money, Den Haag administrates it and Amsterdam spends it :) Den Haag has almost half a million inhabitants making it the third largest city in the Netherlands. The city is located in the heart of Randstad Holland so that it is easy to travel to other cities of the country. It has a large asian community which goes back to the colonial times of the Netherlands.

Great page. The Hague definitely commemorates the memory of Willem de Zwijger. For a guy who was not known to talk much, he sure inspired a lot of monuments!
