"Where fun, history and Guinness comes together" Dublin by Airpunk

Dublin is probably not the most attractive among Europe’s capital cities, but surely one of the most joyful. It is a city with many problems, including criminality, drug abuse and unemployment and even the economic boom of the 1990s and early 2000s have not solved these problems which are deeply rooted in the past. But still, Dublin welcomes tourists from all over the world to enjoy the pub scene at Temple Bar or learn something about the history of a country that has suffered and struggled but still contributed to the culture of other nations.

You won’t find any big landmarks in Dublin like the Colosseum or the Eiffel Tower, but the sights in the Irish capital are worth a visit. Depending on your interest, you will consider Trinity College, The Guinness storehouse or the prison of Kilmainham Gaol as the most important sights. There is enough to do in Dublin to spend a couple of days in the city. And for friends of Irish songs, parades and gallons of Guinness, a visit around March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day) is obligatory.

Indeed, it was the chance to get some cheap airline tickets for St. Patrick’s Day which was the kick-off for my first trip to Dublin. This was for St. Patrick’s Day in 2009 and I returned in 2010. Let’s see what 2011 brings…

Pros and Cons
