The Ritz is among the most popular hotels in Cape Town, especially for middle class – tourists. It was built in the 1970s and surely was a top-class hotel in its heydays. Time hast left its traces on this building and some parts of it are in need for some refurbishment. Rooms were clean, with all the basic facilities you need, including a safe in the room and a TV (without remote control…). The hotel is part of the African Sky Hotels chain. It is very close to a street which has a couple of shops and restaurants (Main Road). There, you’ll also find a bus stop (also frequented by shared taxis) to the city center. A couple of meters downhill, at the ocea, you’ll find the bus stop for the service to V & A Waterfront. If you don’t mind a longer walk, you can also walk along the coastline and get there on your own feet.
Unique Qualities: The stay here was great. The extensive breakfast buffet was delicious and offered warm and cold food. Staff is friendly and helpful and will try their best to make you feel comfortable. And the view from the upper floors is just incredible – the Atlantic Ocean and Lion’s head. I got the hotel through a special promoting from Expedia and it was more than worth its price.
