Hotel des Invalides was built by Louis XIV as a retreat for the invalid veterans of the wars. From far away you will see the golden glitter of the central dome in the sun - the building really is impressive, especially the Eglise du Dome with the tomb of Napoleon with its six coffins inside the main marble coffin. Entry fee is 8 EUR. http://www.invalides.org/

Do you remember the ugly bellringer? This is the place this story takes place.... Climb the top of the towers for a nice outlook over the island and the city. Take a close look at the huge number of little monters as rooftop decorations, very interesting!

Nemorino Sat Feb 21, 2009 22:45 UTC Glad you enjoyed your four first-visits to Paris! Nice photos in your travelogues and tips. I got totally lost in Père Lachaise and it took me about an hour to find my way back to the gate where I had left my bicycle. | Rupanworld Wed Oct 1, 2008 04:35 UTC Hey Chris, great page with great photos as usual. Please complete the incomplete tips. They seem to be interesting especially because these are the places that I haven't been to. Just built my Paris page. Make time to see that. | mallyak Mon Jun 23, 2008 21:27 UTC Useing your pages again and again...not long to go and we will be in this romantic city..thanks. | Helenbb Tue Nov 13, 2007 05:10 UTC haha . seemed i missed some very important part of Paris. you know what. once ...there was a lovers wall along the Bund. |
