Elephant rides can be an experience. There was a place which we passed by that cost 500 baht for a 20min ride. But when we hired a driver to bring us around, he brought us to another place which cost 800baht for 30min. We didn't request for a elephant ride, so obviously he was hoping to make commision off us. We tried to lower the price, but they didn't want to, so we started to walk away since we weren't that interested anyway to pay the price. Here comes the magic moment - he asked us to see the elephants first and tried to persuade us to stay. Then since we refuse to back down, he accepted our offer. So we paid 600 baht for 30min. Not bad.

The National Museum, though small, contains a wealth of interestng artefacts and information, like the geology of Phuket, the history of Phuket in relation to the rest of Thailand etc.

Walking along patong beach, we asked around and opted for a day package to phi phi islands. actually all tour desks sell the same tour itinerary with similar prices. anyway, we bought one which is 1200 baht - at a discount since it was the non-peak season - for the luxury package (which wasn't much anyway).

ok trip, nothing to complain about.

This was a full day tour, and besides Phang Nga (James Bond island), we went to 3 other islands. Although it rained the whole day, it was very enjoyable coz 1) the ship crew were really friendly and helpful 2) there was even an entertainment performance put by by the ship crew towards the end of the boat trip. You can really feel their sincerity and appreciate the little things they do for you, like giving us a hot towel after coming back to the boat from the canoe in the rain.

This package is by Siam Phuket sea canoe, though I suppose their package can be bought from different street tour desks, not sure. We bought ours from one of the tour desks that lined Patong beach road. It's in a shop that specialises in selling bikini and Hello Kitty stuff. Our package cost 1300 baht per person with buffet lunch onboard and free flow of soft drinks and pineapple biscuits.
