We hadn't intended on visiting Mykonos on our trek through Greece, but luckily everything conspired in such a way that we were able to experience this beautiful island. Our itenerary had us scheduled for 5 nights in Ios. However, once we got to Ios, we found it to be desolate and somewhat boring. I had thought that it was going to be a huge party, but I guess it doesn't really pick up until July and August. After cutting Ios short, a travel agent convinced us that we had to go to Mykonos. He was right.
I didn't think that I would enjoy Mykonos as much as I did. I was under the impression that it was all posh nightclubs and snooty rich people. I could not have been more wrong. Mykonos is home to some of Greece's best beaches and best shopping. My only regret is that we had just two days to spend here. Hopefully I'll be able to return someday, but in the meantime I'm just happy that I made it at all. |
