Bears, bears everywhere

by arran28 - last update: Jun 20, 2005

Montpelier is a small town in southeastern Idaho that is part of the National Oregon Trail. It is located at the junction of US89 and US30. I wandered into the town on a roaming road trip in the area. I immediately noticed that there were bears everywhere. I could hardly believe my eyes. Big bears, little bears, bears of many colors. The bears are a reason to visit and the Trail museum and location make it worth the time.
I was moved that the residents of Montpelier had the forethought to warn intrepid travellers about the danger of bears. It is the responsible thing to keep both visitors and animals safe if you are going to let bears roam the streets.
Additionally, I was impressed that the community has not only welcomed the bears, but is attempting full integration. This individual is being trained as a hawker/salesman.
