Whale-watching in Digby

by King_Golo - last update: Oct 20, 2007

A great thing to do near Digby, a small town in Northwest Nova Scotia, is to go whale-watching. I had heard so many interesting stories about whales in this area and people who had actually seen them in a distance of like 5m so that I decided even before I entered Canadian territory that I will go for a whale-watching cruise some time during my trip. Digby was my place of choice. On a cloudy day I drove to the Digby Neck, a long peninsula where conditions for whale-watching are said to be perfect. Whales very much enjoy the enormously high tides in the Bay of Fundy because they whirl up the krill, the favourite food of whales. Well, it looks like conditions are indeed perfect - our group saw 7 whales, humpbacks and finbacks.
Apart from whale-watching, Digby offers quite some things to do despite its small town character. Check out my tips for more.

No pots and pans, and didn't enter seafood restaurant. Where did you eat then? No wonder you are so skinny!
