| Fichtelberg on a foggy day |
Despite having lived in Saxony for 9 years, I had never made it to Saxony's and thus Eastern Germany's highest point: the Fichtelberg in Oberwiesenthal. With an altitude of 1214m, the hill is quite impressive - although of course not comparable with the Alps in Southern Germany. Nevertheless, I had always wanted to visit Fichtelberg and am glad that I made it before leaving Saxony again this autumn. |
