I went to Oulu this February for a business trip - teaching German at the local university. Oulu is quite far north in Finland and was also (up to now) the northernmost place I've been to. In fact, it's only 200km from the polar circle! This meant packing my warm clothes, preparing for lots of snow and looking forward to enjoying some nice sauna visits...
Well, apart from the icy temperatures I expected, everything was kinda cool (harhar!) and I really enjoyed my stay there.
- Pros:nice small town, friendly people
- Cons:quite far off the beaten path
