"The city of churches" a Vilnius Travel Page by King_Golo

Having travelled quite a lot in the Baltics, people often ask me which of the capitals (Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius) is the most beautiful one. Usually, I opt for Tallinn, but Vilnius is really great, too... I've just come back from a day trip to this beautiful place. Vilnius' charm has immediately captured me again - baroque buildings, dozens of churches, narrow lanes, the magnificent view from the Hill of the Three Crosses or the artists' quarter Uzupis. There's so much to see in Vilnius!

Uzupis was new to me, and I liked it very much. I'm a fan of old run-down buildings with exfoliating paint, dusty windows and cracked rooftiles. In Uzupis, you can find this atmosphere in many places...

Another new experience was the nighttime view of the Old Town. It was really great to see the silhouettes of all the churches in front of a nighttime sky! Unfortunately, this atmosphere was disturbed by a whole lot of young people who gathered on the same hill only to get drunk...
