The Gateway to Angkor

Rainy season in Siem Reap
Siem Reap is probably the tourist city no.1 in Cambodia. You might not have heard the name yet, but you sure know what is close by: the temples of Angkor! Siem Reap is the place to stay when you plan a visit to Angkor. It is equipped with everything a tourist needs - from luxury hotels to very basic guesthouses, from massage parlours to restaurants, from internet cafes to an amazing number of supermarkets... I haven't seen so many supermarkets anywhere else in Southeast Asia!
While most tourists only stay in Siem Reap for sleeping and recuperating from their temple adventures, it is worth also strolling around the streets for some time and getting to know parts of the city. It's a nice and relaxed place with many things to discover, especially if it's your first time in the area.
