"Heart of the Altmühltal" a Eichstätt Travel Page by King_Golo

Eichstätt is a nice small town in Southern Germany, well-known for its beautiful centre and the castle high above it. I went there with two Vietnamese friends in summer 2006, but as we had a long trip ahead of us, we only made it to the castle. Leading up there is the probably steepest street of Germany.

I had been to Eichstätt earlier, probably at the age of 9 or 10. We spent our holidays in a small place nearby and had a lot of fun biking through the Altmühltal, a very beautiful valley which stretches out around Eichstätt. Apart from biking, there are many hiking trails, possibilities to go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking and much more.
