La Posada de Albuquerque: La Posada de Albuquerque   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • Unique Qualities: Located in Downtown Albuquerque and within walking distance to movie theaters, restaurants, art galleries, night clubs, comedy clubs, the Convention Center and the beautiful KIMO Theater, this modestly priced hotel gets our recommendation.

Built in 1939 by owner/designer Conrad Hilton, La Po, as locals call it, was the site of his honeymoon. It is deservedly on the National Registry of HIstoric Places.

From the beautiful Moorish brass and mosaic fountain in the lobby to its handcarved corbels, handmade furniture and Mexican tile floors, this is a one of a kind hotel. The 114 rooms also have handcarved furniture and the bigger rooms at the top of the 10 story hotel have large windows looking out across the city with a view of our breathtaking Sandia Mountains.

Amenities include access to a health facility, a restaurant and a popular lobby bar that features live music.

Route 66 Hostel: Budget Travel Gem
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Built in 1905 as an apartment building, this very inexpensive Hostel is close to the bus system and just a couple of minutes walking distance from Downtown's entertainment district one way and Old Town the other.

Featured are a common kitchen and some food staples but nothing gourmet. Rates vary in price starting at $17 a night for a dorm bed and go up to $33 a night for a suite that can accommodate up to 3 people.

Reservations are incouraged. The maximum stay is 10 days and guest mat live no closer than 50 miles from Albuquerque. This is the perfect place for the traveler on a tiny budget.

    W. E. Mauger Estate: Great B and B
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This beautifully restored Queen Anne Victorian built in 1897 is the former home of wool baron William Mauger. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Decorated with period antiques, the house has high ceiling and lovely brass appointments.

Located in Downtown Albuquerque and only a short walk to the Downtown Entertainment District, Convention Center, public transportation and Old Town, this is a very convenient place to stay. All rooms have private baths with showers and one has a private balcony. Breakfast is served each morning.
