Tsawwassen native Indian for "Facing the sea"

The claims to fame for Tsawwassen are that it is the main ferry terminal from the Mainland to Vancouver Island and Victoria. Many folk think that the road to the terminal is Tsawwassen, but the actual town is some mile or so before, on a left turnoff from Hwy 17 onto 56th street (marked to Point Roberts USA) Point Roberts a small part of the USA where a good number of Canadians have purchased homes and where shopping, especially for petrol is generall 10%cheaper than in Canada. Its main attraction to most of us, is that Tsawwassen is on a jet stream which ensures we have far more sun and blue sky, and far less rain than most of the areas in, and around Greater Vancouver. This enables all sorts of semi tropical plants to thrive, especially Palm trees which now adorn 56 St, the main thoroughfare, and plus guava, banana, grape vine,apricot all of which which survive in local gardens through the winter without being under glass.
Two hours drive north of Tsawwassen, on the sea to sky highway, is the village of Whistler which with Vancouver, is to be the home of the 2010 winter olympics.

Yes, i went to Vancouver island from here three years ago. It was a pleasant trip. Interesting photo.

The weather and climate alone would attract me. Sounds a great place to live and so near to Vancouver too.
