It might take a while before I can post a very good introduction page to this province but try the link for general info.

When you mention Bataan, people usually associate the province with beaches, wwII and seafood.
Shown in the picture is a portion of Morong Beach. Morong's beach seem to stretch endlessly. Sunsets here are fabulous. On a cloudless sky, you can even see the "green flash". That's the effect where after the sun disappears on the horizon, you see a green ray of light shooting up.
I'll post more pictures of Morong in my Morong page soon.
Bataan is most noted in Philippine and American history books as the province where they had the last stand before the fall to the Japanese conquerors during World War II.
In the picture is what is known as "the Death March" route. Captured Filipino and American soldiers were force marched to San Fernando without food and water. Those who fall down are beaten to death or shot. If you are driving through the inner highway, you will see plaques along the roads telling you how many kilometers from ground zero.
Find out more on Philippine WWII history by visiting Corregidor and the Shrine of Valor located at Mt.Samat. If you want to see pictures of Mt.Samat, see my "Pilar, Province of Bataan" page.

Interesting information :)
I remember reading about the "Death March" but never knew where it was. Also, interesting fact about the drying rice on the roads.
